Geylang Polyclinic launched a new physiotherapy service on Thursday - the second polyclinic under the SingHealth group to do so.
Most physiotherapy patients are between 40 and 60 years old, and have issues with shoulder, neck, or lower back pain. They will now be able to access treatments like heat therapy and electrical stimulation, as well as receive help for pain management and functional rehabilitation.
Dr Gilbert Tan Choon Seng, clinic director of Geylang Polyclinic, said bringing specialised services, like physiotherapy, closer to the community would help patients get these treatments earlier.
"We hope that with the extension of this service to SingHealth Polyclinics-Geylang, more patients will be able to benefit from it, reducing the need for referrals to hospitals," he said.
