Three SCDF officers deployed to the Philippines earlier this month to assist with Tropical Storm Bopha relief efforts have safely returned to Singapore.

The three officers, who reached the Philippines on Dec 3, touched down in Singapore on Friday morning at 11.45am.

One of them helped assess the situation and the resulting humanitarian needs. The other two, who are info-communications specialists, helped establish communication links to facilitate coordination of the relief efforts in what has been called the strongest and deadliest storm to hit the Philippines this year.

They had been deployed under the auspices of United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (UNOCHA), after Typhoon Bopha devastated southern Philippines on Dec 4, setting off flash floods and landslides.
