SCDF activated to rescue motorcyclist pinned underneath tipper truck
A motorcyclist was pinned under a tipper truck after an accident occured near the junction of Yishun Ave 1 and Ave 2 on Tuesday morning. Officers from the Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) had to jack up the truck to remove the motorcyclist, Mr Joseph Steven, 47, told The Straits Times.
Mr Steven, a sole-proprietor, was on his way home after work when he spotted the truck and motorcycle. He said: "I didn't see how the accident happened, but I had stopped to see if I can render help to the victims. Then I saw the motorcyclist underneath the truck. He was conscious and had remained very calm and still, until the SCDF officers arrived. There was no blood and he wasn't groaning in pain. I didn't dare to touch him."
A SCDF spokesman said that they had received a call about the accident at about 9.20am and an ambulance was despatched to the scene. "The motorcyclist, who is in his 30s, suffered abrasions on his arms and legs and was conveyed to Khoo Teck Puat Hospital," he said.
