SBS Transit, which runs LRT services in Sengkang and Punggol, said that investigations are ongoing to determine the cause of the train fault on Monday.

About 20 passengers found themselves walking on the LRT tracks to the nearest station on Monday afternoon after the train they were in stalled.

The train stalled at about 4.30pm on the Punggol East Outer Loop, as it was approaching Cove station. Service resumed at about 5pm.

SBS Transit customer service officers accompanied the passengers along the 1.8m-wide emergency walkway to Cove station. SBS Transit added that a rescue train was sent to try and push the faulty train to the station but was unsuccessful. Its spokesman added: "We apologise to affected commuters for the inconvenience caused."
