In the past six months, 17 retail and food outlets in Rivervale Plaza have hopped on board a scheme to help lower income households in the area.

The shops will begin accepting community vouchers from Wednesday, the start of the new year, benefiting more than 400 households in the Punggol East area. Each household will receive vouchers worth $40.

The community voucher programme was officially launched at Rivervale Plaza on Sunday morning. They were given out to needy households in the area, many of who stay in the rental blocks.

The programme is a collaboration between North East CDC and the Punggol East CCC Community Development and Welfare Fund.
