Private home prices edged up further in the third quarter, by 0.6 per cent, probably due to a strong showing at new home launches in September. The flash estimates had earlier shown an increase of 0.5 per cent.

Among the regions, the suburban areas saw the largest increase. Prices in Outside Central region increased by 1 per cent, compared to the increase of 0.5 per cent in the second quarter.

The Rest of Central region or city fringe areas rose 0.8 per cent while the prime district or the Core Central region inched up 0.1 per cent.

The number of resale transactions fell from 3,830 units in the second quarter to 3,370 in the third quarter.
