President Tony Tan lauds Singapore Red Cross' work

President Tony Tan Keng Yam was the guest of honour at the inaugural Singapore Red Cross (SRC) Awards on Wednesday where he handed out awards to outstanding volunteers and partners. A total of 24 volunteers and five partners received awards.

He also toured an experiential exhibition at the SRC headquarters at Red Cross House in Penang Road. The exhibition showcased the various community services the local humanitarian organisation offers.

Dr Tan, who is patron of the SRC, said he was happy to see the organisation redefine its humanitarian services to provide greater emphasis on serving the needs of the local community.

"This allows SRC to stay relevant to the evolving needs in Singapore, and provides more avenues for Singaporeans to participate in its mission and make an impact on our community through volunteering, donations and partnerships," he said.
