Six people were arrested between yesterday and Monday for suspected involvement in loansharking activities.

In a 29-hour islandwide operation, officers from Ang Mo Kio Police Division arrested the suspects in Yishun, Sengkang and Ang Mo Kio, said a statement from the police on Wednesday.

The suspects had allegedly assisted unlicensed moneylenders and facilitated their business by allowing loansharks to use their ATM cards and personal identification numbers (PINs). They had also verified borrowers' particulars, distributed the loansharks' name cards and delivered debtors' notes to borrowers demanding repayments.

The five men and one woman arrested were between 24 and 40 years old.
