The two brothers, initially arrested in connection with the hacking of the Prime Minister's Office (PMO) website on Nov 8, now face a total of 16 charges under the Computer Misuse and Cybersecurity Act, between them.

The prosecution on Friday tendered 10 charges in court against Mohammad Azhar Tahir, 27. They include the unauthorised modification of content on the PMO site and hacking into various social media accounts of Ah Boys to Men actor Ridhwan Azman, among other cyber intrusions.

Six similar charges were tendered against his younger brother Mohammad Asyiq Tahir, 21, although he was not implicated in the PMO incident, according to court documents seen by The Straits Times. Both men will be released on $10,000 bail with their passports impounded and the case against them will be heard again on Jan 6.

This latest development comes after businessman Delson Moo, 42, and student Melvin Teo, 17, were charged separately in court last week, in connection with the hacking of an Istana webpage, also reported on Nov 8. None of these four men, however, is linked to James Raj Arokiasamy, the alleged hacker behind "The Messiah" pseudonym.

The 35-year-old - accused of hacking into the Ang Mo Kio Town Council website on Oct 28 - has been remanded in police custody for further investigations. He faces four other drug charges and is now also linked to the theft of data belonging to Standard Chartered Bank's clients, which were found by police in a laptop that was seized during his arrest on Nov 4.
