Pedal power: Here come the bicycle couriers
Green Messengers sells its service as fast, reliable and eco-friendly
If you are fit, can cycle up to 50km a day in city traffic, and can make several pickups and deliveries each day, then there is a career for you in being a bicycle courier.
Each working day, they zip through the Central Business District, toting a messenger bag over their shoulders.
They ensure that documents and packages get delivered on time, like Joseph Gordon-Levitt's character in the recent box office hit Premium Rush, but with more regard for road safety. Some ride "fixies", or single-speed bicycles that cannot coast - so they must pedal constantly.
In April this year, Mr Hendra Rosa, 31, co-founded Green Messengers - Singapore's first bicycle courier service. It is touted as being "eco-friendly" and "extremely fast and reliable".
