THE Health Ministry is raising the salaries of health-care support staff.

More than 3,500 administrative, ancillary and support staff in the voluntary welfare organisation-run health-care groups will see pay increases of up to 24 per cent.

Minister of State for Health Amy Khor said this will strengthen the recruitment and retention of non-clinical staff in the intermediate and long-term care (ILTC) sector.

Dr Khor, speaking at the health manpower development programme awards at Ren Ci Community Hospital on Friday morning, said serious thought needs to be put into how the ILTC sector needs to be supported on the productivity front so that salary increases are sustainable in the longer term.
