Parents with special needs children to get more guidance

Parents who have children with special needs in mainstream schools will soon get more guidance about the options they have.

The Ministry of Education will work with two voluntary welfare organisations - Student Care Services and Touch Family Services - to launch a new service called the Post-Diagnosis Educational Guidance to help children who would be better suited in special education schools.

This was among the announcements to special education announced by Senior Parliamentary Secretary( Education and Law) Sim Ann at the Special Education Conference today.

The special education curriculum will also be enhanced to include character and citizenship education, as well as information and communication technology (ICT). Together with the Tote Board, MOE will introduce a $4.5 million fund for special education schools to enhance their ICT capabilities.
