Needy Singaporeans received more than $55 million in aid after the Community Chest recorded its best annual fund-raising sum to date.
It met its fundraising target of $55.7 million for the last financial year, compared to $55.2 million raised the year before.
The money went to a range of charities, particularly those helping children with disabilities, youth-at-risk and the elderly.
The organisation, which is the fundraising-arm of the National Council of Social Service, said that the increase in donations came from workers who pledged a sum from their monthly salaries as well as individual and corporate partners.
