LONDON: Singapore sailor Colin Cheng has finished 15th overall in a fleet of 49 boats in the Laser Standard class at the Olympics.

While only the top 10 qualify for the medal race, Cheng's creditable finish - he posted three top 10 finishes - is one of the best ever pulled off by a Singaporean representative at the quadrennial event.

His stellar results puts him ahead of 2004 silver medallist Andreas Geritzer of Austria (20th) and 2003 world champion Gustavo Lima of Portugal (22nd).

Elizabeth Yin, the Republic's other Olympic representative, finished 24th out of 41 in the Laser Radial class. She also does not make it for the medal race.
