A National University of Singapore student slipped and fell to his death on Saturday evening while camping in Stong Mountain, a recreation spot in Kelantan popular for its mountainous terrain and views.

According to Utusan Malaysia, a Malay-language daily, Singaporean Lee Jun Jie, 23, is said to have slipped while admiring the view from the mountain at about 7pm.

He was with a group of 22 other students, including eight female students from NUS in the camping trip that started on Saturday evening.

Rescuers could only retrieve Mr Lee's body at 9.50am on Sunday, an operation which took more than two hours, due to the slippery paths from the rain on Saturday.
