NTUC sets up legal aid team to help PME union members

The National Trades Union Congress (NTUC) has set up a legal aid team to help union members who are professionals, managers, and executives (PMEs).

At the media launch of the new Workplace Advisory Service on Friday, NTUC's director of legal services Patrick Tay said the workers will be able to tap these experts for advice on "complex workplace issues", such as when employees are retrenched or fired.

The legal service is free for these workers.

The team will comprise four lawyers from the labour group's own internal legal unit, and may be expanded if the need arises, he added.
