Corporations and schools can now work together to serve community groups, such as the elderly or students with special needs through nature-based activities under a new National Parks Board (NParks) initiative.
Under Nature Cares, which will offically start in 2013, corporations and schools will be required to commit to work together for at least one year, said NParks on Tuesday at an event to introduce the move.
Nature Cares, which was launched by President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Tuesday at St Theresa's Home, is the first programme in Singapore that aims to reach out to community groups through nature-related activities, such as community gardening and guided nature walks.
Keppel Care Foundation, Queenstown Primary School, and St Theresa's Home will take part in a pilot of the programme starting in January next year.
