Nightingale Nursing Home fined for slapping, tossing elderly patient

Nightingale Nursing Home and three others including its director were fined a total of $64,500 on Tuesday for various offences.
The nursing home in Braddell Road was fined $15,000 - in the first case of its kind - for failing to ensure that the care provided to an elderly patient was according to approved standards of nursing practice.
A camera-clock installed by Madam Peh Siew Lay's son had recorded three staff mistreating the 77-year-old woman. Two of the Filipinas tossed her onto the bed and another slapped her sometime in 2010.
For breaking the Employment of Foreign Manpower Act, Nightingale was fined another $11,000 on 10 charges of illegal deployment of its foreign workers.
