The National Heritage Board has launched a series of initiatives including a documentary, virtual tour and cooking workshops at Pulau Ubin as part of its commemorative efforts of the island.

The documentary, featuring the lives of boat operators, will be uploaded on to its YouTube channel in December, while a virtual tour of its main hub was uploaded on its website on Wednesday.

Cooking classes organised by the Malay Heritage Centre at a Malay kampung house on the island will also take place over the the coming weeks.

The board started a research project of the island to uncover and document lesser-known facts and stories about the island in May. There are also plans to compile the information into an e-book and make it available to schools.
