The wet market at block 502 had suffered from low occupancy, with only 34 out of 68 stores occupied.
Mr Iswaran, who is also the Second Minister for Home Affairs and Trade and Industry, spearheaded a project to revitalise the neighbourhood centre.
Under the plan, some stallholders re-located to free up space to accommodate a new NTUC supermarket, which takes up nearly half the space of the old wet market. The aim is to draw more human traffic to revitalise business at the market and give residents an additional facility.
