A one-tonne slab of cement was hoisted to the roof of the new Ng Teng Fong General Hospital in Jurong as part of the hospital's topping-out ceremony, marking the completion of its structure.
The slab bore the well-wishes of more than 4,000 members of the community, and was flagged off by Health Minister Gan Kim Yong on Monday morning. The hospital is on target to be completed by December this year.
One of its key features is its "window for every patient" design, which is intended to improve ventilation and maximise natural light. Patients in the Intensive Care Unit will also have access to an outdoor garden for fresh air.
