In its plans to revitalise the civic district by 2015, the Urban Redevelopment Authority is inviting consultants to chip in.

In a statement released on Thursday, the agency said consultants would "conceptualise and improve pedestrian connectivity and public spaces ... through landscaping works".

This, it added, would serve to strengthen the attractiveness of the district already peppered with landmarks like the National Art Gallery and Victoria Theatre.

The district starts at the tail end of Orchard Road, and is bounded by Marina Bay and the Singapore River.
