New campaign to encourage members of the public to give way to disabled users
A campaign to raise awareness about the obstacles faced by the disabled as they go about their daily routine will be launched by the Disabled People's Association on Sept 16.
The effort is aimed at encouraging the public to give way to people with disabilities on trains, buses and in lifts, among other situations.
The six-week campaign will feature a short video of paralympic athlete Yip Pin Xiu, 21, as she goes about her daily routine. The clip will be shown in cinemas. Posters will also be put up on trains an in MRT stations and bus stops.
President of the Disabled People's Association, Nicholas Aw said: "There is still a lot to do to change mindsets. Most people think no one is going to use the toilet or parking lot for the disabled, but they don't realise that the disabled can't use it when they are there."
