More train trips will be added to the Punggol East LRT from Oct 1 to cut down waiting times for commuters and allow them greater elbow space, said SBS Transit on Monday.
In all, 50 additional train trips will run during the weekday evening peak period from 6.15pm to 8.30pm on the Outer Loop.
The spokesman said that this will improve the frequency of trains with one coming every five to six minutes instead of the six to seven minutes currently.
Since August last year, the average daily ridership on the Punggol East LRT has been growing steadily, increasing by close to 40 per cent over the past year.
