More questions over NUS student found dead in France
Friends of dead NUS student say he was not an avid hiker and did not read English novels
More questions have been raised over the circumstances surrounding the discovery of student Cui Luchao's body in the French woods.
Long-time friends told The Straits Times that the 27-year-old Chinese national was not known to be an avid hiker. They added that Mr Cui, who was studying for a PhD at the National University of Singapore (NUS), also did not read English novels.
This contradicted a report in French newspaper L'Independant on Tuesday that suggested he was trying to retrace author Robert Louis Stevenson's famous 1878 hike through the Cevennes mountains.
Mr Cui was reportedly found by the police in woodland near a town called La Bastide-Puylaurent in the Lozere region of south-east France.
