More than 2,500 health care workers recognised for service excellence

More than 2,500 staff from 19 healthcare institutions were presented with the Singapore Health Quality Service Award on Wednesday.

This year's annual awards saw the largest number of participating organisations from both the public and private sector. Hospitals such as Mount Alvernia and Thomson Medical Centre took part in the annual awards for the first time.

Professor Ivy Ng, group chief executive officer of organisers SingHealth, said the ageing population will bring up demand for quality healthcare.

"A sound healthcare system is not just about accurate diagnosis and administering the right treatment for patients. We must show genuine care and build trust and rapport to engage our patients and their families with professionalism and empathy," she said.
