MOE workplan: New online learning portal for students
By 2016, the Ministry of Education (MOE) will set up an online portal with learning resources, which students can use to supplement their school lessons. Education Minister Heng Swee Keat, who announced the move on Wednesday morning at his Ministry's annual workplan seminar, said the portal will contain rich resources developed and selected by experienced educators. These resources will be made available to all primary and secondary students,
Students can use it to understand difficult topics or use it to deepen their knowledge in an area.
With the advancement of technology, the possibilities of using infocomm technologies to transform teaching and learning are tremendous, said Mr Heng. He added: "For students, whatever school they are in, they can have even better access to high quality and relevant learning resources. This will help level-up our students across schools.
"Teachers can also rapidly learn, acquire a range of teaching strategies and spread good practices."Teaching using infocomm technology have helped student develop information, communication and collaboration skills.
