Minor changes to 24 bus routes because of Thaipusam road closures

Twenty-four bus routes plying roads in and around Little India, Bugis and Orchard will skip certain bus stops between Jan 16 and 18 because of road closures during the Hindu festival of Thaipusam, SBS Transit said on Monday.

The routes affected are 7, 14, 16, 21, 23, 36, 64, 65, 66, 111, 123, 124, 125, 130, 131, 139, 141, 143, 147, 162, 162M, 166, 174 and 175. The bus stops skipped lie on Bencoolen Street, Bras Basah Road, Clemenceau Avenue, Middle Road, Orchard Road, Penang Road and Serangoon Road.

The routes will be affected from 8pm on Jan 16 till 3am on Jan 18. Thaipusam falls on Jan 17.

The annual festival celebrated by Singapore's Tamil community is marked by a procession by thousands of devotees from Sri Srinivasa Perumal Temple along Serangoon Road to Sri Thendayuthapani Temple on Tank Road.
