LAW and Foreign Minister K Shanmugam said in a FaceBook post that he was glad that action has been taken against the meat suppliers who passed off beef as mutton.

He said some restaurant owners in Serangoon Road had raised the issue with him some months ago and he had passed on the information to the relevant agencies.

He wrote on Friday: "Good to see that action is being taken. Quite unacceptable - as religion is involved - there are many who dont eat beef, for religious reasons."

On Wednesday, two meat suppliers were taken to task for selling beef as mutton.
