Senior Minister of State Lawrence Wong gave his reassurance on Thursday to arts and sports groups who are concerned about their future after the restructuring of two ministries.

The current funding and infrastructure for arts and sports will remain, even though these portfolios will be moved to the new Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth.

He noted the concerns from various quarters that the name of the new ministry does not reflect the arts and sports, but echoed Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong's earlier comment that this was to keep the title reasonably concise.

Mr Wong will become Acting Minister, and helm the new ministry, when it is formed from Nov 1.
