Metta Welfare raises $300,000 at charity dinner

Metta Welfare Association raised at least $300,000 at its 20th anniversary charity dinner last night at the Raffles Town Club.
Donors representing foundations and corporations were treated to seven courses of fusion vegetarian cuisine served by Metta School students. President Tony Tan Keng Yam was the guest of honour.
Metta Welfare Association was started by Venerable Shi Fa Zhao in 1992 and registered as a charity in 1994. It provides special education, medical care and welfare services for the intellectually disabled, the elderly and the terminally ill.
Guests were treated to performances by pre-school children, adults with intellectual disabilities as well as senior citizens receiving rehabilitative care.
