Memorable Hari Raya for crowd at Istana open house

Undergraduate Fazli Ahmad did not get to do what he normally does on the first day of Hari Raya - visit friends and relatives.

On Sunday, as Muslims celebrated the festive occasion this year, the 25-year-old did something more memorable - he performed at the Istana for a crowd which included President Tony Tan Keng Yam and his wife.

The setting was the Istana's open house, and the National University of Singapore undergraduate was there as part of a Malay dance ensemble from People's Association Talents.

"I feel it is an honour to perform for the President, and I think I represent the Malay community in that we don't just want to celebrate the festival by ourselves.
