The Health Ministry wants the issue of medical coverage for babies with congenital diseases to be discussed and will be surfacing the issue in the Our Singapore Conversation.

Health Minister Gan Kim Yong revealed this in Parliament on Wednesday when answering questions on Medishield coverage.

Dr Lam Pin Min (Sengkang West) had asked for an update on the public consultation on Medishield coverage to include babies with congenital defects.

To the question from Non-Constituency MP Gerald Giam on how the Ministry will encourage the elderly who are not currently covered by Medishield, Mr Gan said that the Ministry will hold public outreach events and tap on the Health Ambassadors' network of the Health Promotion Board and the grassroots organisations.
