MDA: Breakfast Network as a company cannot operate on Facebook and Twitter
As socio-political news site Breakfast Network has decided not to register with the Media Development Authority (MDA), the company must cease online services including its Facebook page and Twitter feeds, the regulator said on Friday in a media statement.
"Should Breakfast Network Pte Ltd remain active as a company, it must not operate any iteration of www.breakfastnetwork.sg on other Internet platforms as doing so would contravene MDA's registration requirements. These other Internet platforms include Breakfast Network's Facebook page and Twitter Feed," said an MDA spokesman.
The MDA also clarified that site founder Bertha Henson's claim in a Facebook post that volunteer contributors had to be named in its registration forms is "false".
The regulator said that it had had replied to Ms Henson on Dec 6 that "pro-bono editorial team members should be listed in the form if they are responsible for and/or involved in the provision, management and/or operation of the website".
