Over three years, an administration-cum-accounts officer embezzled more than $230,000 and gambled it all away at the Resorts World Sentosa casino. On Tuesday, Choo Mui, 42, pleaded guilty to committing criminal breach of trust and was jailed 31/2 years.

A district court heard that she was employed by building material company Bintan Granite in 2005 and put in charge of the petty cash and making payments to the firm's suppliers.

The firm was unaware that she had been recently released from prison after serving six years for misappropriating $666,000 from her former employer.

She kept her hands clean until 2008. Between February and December in 2008, she siphoned off $30,000. A year later, she diverted $10,000 into her account.
