Chased by two police officers at East Coast Park on Monday evening, a man jumped a barricade and ran across the East Coast Parkway into the Marine Parade estate, nearly causing a series of car accidents.
Mr Brandon Lim, a 30-year-old teacher who was jogging in the park at the time, saw the suspect, who was wearing a black singlet, black pants and clutching a jacket, being pursued towards the overhead bridge near Victoria Junior College. He tried to help officers corner the man.
"But the suspect didn't have that in mind, and he ran onto the expressway," said Mr Lim. "He cut across the four lanes towards the city, and the four lanes towards Changi airport and into the Marine Parade estate."
The suspect, who is in his forties, made it to Marine Terrace before he was apprehended by the police. Police said the incident happened at about 6.52pm, after the suspect was arrested for drug-related offences along Marine Terrace during a routine patrol by officers.
