A 24-year-old man was on Friday sentenced to 30 months in jail for having sex with two underage girls. Ahmad Kamal met both girls through an Internet chatline, and later got both of them pregnant.

A court heard that after finding out about the pregnancies, he had told one to "eat copious amounts of pineapple" to induce a miscarriage, and the other, that he did not want to take any responsibility for the child.

Ahmad had unprotected sex with the girls, then aged 15 and 14, on nine different occasions between January and March this year. He committed the offences at the staircase landings of Housing Board blocks in Taman Jurong, Clementi and Bedok.

One of the babies was aborted. The other has been delivered and will be put up for adoption. The maximum penalty for the offence is a jail term of 10 years and a fine.
