Man fined $5,000 for giving bribes in return for commercial spaces

A man who gave bribes to an events manager in return for renting commercial space from his firm was fined a total of $5,000 today.

Teo Kah Siong, 36, proprietor of JR Concept Enterprise, admitted to giving $1,300 to Faymond Huang Zhiming, then working for 101 Hair Consultants, so that the latter would rent commercial space from JR Concept to 101 Hair Consultants in April 2008.

He admitted giving another $1,500 to Huang in February 2009.

Huang, 38, who was fined $25,000 earlier this year for corruption, would source for commercial spaces at shopping malls, MRT stations and interchanges to stage road-shows and handle the logistics of such shows for Beijing 101, Beijing Zhangguang 101 and TrichoKare.
