The LionsXII's bid to reach the quarter-finals of the Malaysia Cup will go down to the final day of the group stage, after a 0-1 loss to PKNS FC at the Petaling Jaya Stadium on Tuesday night.

Tunisian midfielder Helmi Loussaief scored the winner in the first minute of stoppage time, to consign V. Sundramoorthy's side to their first defeat in the competition.

Just four minutes earlier, LionsXII goalkeeper Izwan Mahbud had kept out Michael Nicoise's penalty, appearing to give his side the point they needed to reach the quarter-finals.

Coupled with Johor FA's 3-1 win over Johor FC, Group A is wide open, with all four sides still in with a shout of progressing when the group stage comes to an end on Sept 14.
