Madam Halimah Yacob appointed NCSS adviser

Speaker of Parliament, Madam Halimah Yacob has been appointed as an adviser to the National Council of Social Service (NCSS).

In a statement this morning, the NCSS said she is the council's first adviser and it is also the first time a speaker has been involved in social services in such a capacity.

"With her extensive and deep understanding of ground concerns together with her practical ways, Madam Halimah Yacob will be invaluable in helping us to serve the needs better," said NCSS president Mr Hsieh Fu Hua, who extended the invitation to her. He cited her guidance, expertise, passion and insight key factors that would help the NCSS increase the engagement of social services.

The NCSS is the umbrella body for around 400 member voluntary welfare organisations. It is responsible for strengthening the capabilities of social service organisations and promoting strategic partnerships for social services.
