M. Ravi sues Law Society and official for defamation
Defamation suit follows clash over lawyer's health, ability to practise
Lawyer M. Ravi is suing the Law Society of Singapore and its official Wong Siew Hong for defamation, following a clash over the issue of Mr Ravi's health and his ability to practise.
Yesterday, Mr Louis Joseph, who acts for Mr Ravi, said the two parties were each served a writ of summons.
The writ charges that their actions last month caused the lawyer to be "injured in his professional reputation and has thereby suffered loss and damage".
While it does not specify the amount of damages, Mr Ravi told The Straits Times that he wants at least $2 million from the Law Society and another $2 million from Mr Wong, should the case be settled out of court.
