Train services between Mountbatten and Paya Lebar stations on the Circle Line will run as a shuttle service on March 17 from the start of train service at 5.30am to 10am.

Commuters can expect an additional 10 to 12 minutes of travel time if their journey passes through this stretch. Train service at other Circle Line stations will not be affected.

The shuttle service is to facilitate the power cable replacement work that SMRT and LTA are undertaking. This is the first time train services here have been partially shut down for maintenance work.

The cable replacement work comes after the Circle Line suffered two major breakdowns in the last two years. Both were triggered by faulty power cables. In a joint news release on Friday, both parties said the first phase of replacement is underway. Works are expected to be completed by December this year.
