Jurong Fire: SCDF in firefighting and search and rescue operations

Three adjacent warehouse units were razed in a fire on Tuesday morning.

The blaze consumed the contents of the two-storeyed units within Jurong Industrial Estate, which included cloth, wood, machine parts and furniture.

There are no reported injuries so far, and the exact cause of the fire is still being determined.

The Singapore Civil Defence Force (SCDF) said they received a call about the incident along Link Road at about 11am.

As of 1pm, firefighting and search and rescue operations were still underway. About 50 SCDF officers are involved.

Workers in the estate told The Straits Times that they dashed out of their offices either after smelling smoke or hearing cries of "fire, fire" from others.

A manager of one of the warehouses two doors away from the affected ones, Madam Jacqueline Lim, said she was very worried.

"The wind is very strong and the smoke is very thick and being blown about. I'm worried that the fire will affect my office," said the 47-year old.

"I told my workers to grab their personal belongings and go".
