A member of a Malaysian syndicate was jailed for six years on Thursday for abetment by conspiracy to steal money from DBS ATMs earlier this year.
Chia Soon Lee, 49, a Malaysian, had pleaded guilty to four counts of abetting with several others to withdraw a total of $6,200 from DBS Bank accounts and one of trying to steal $2,000.
The offences took place in Jurong on Feb 19.
A district court heard that Chia, who owed money to a loanshark, was recruited by the loanshark in Kuala Lumpur to commit ATM fraud here to pay off his debts.
