Together with two accomplices, Ong Boon Ee robbed three women and left them tied up in one of the rooms of a massage parlour.

That was in September 2007. On Thursday, the 28-year-old was jailed for three years and ordered to be caned 24 times.

Assistant Public Prosecutor Andy Dinesh said that on the evening of Sept 19, 2007, Ong hatched the plan to rob a massage parlour along Balestier Road with Jackie Teo and another man known only as Kim Mo in a coffee shop in MacPherson Road.

They struck after midnight and threatened to hurt the three victims if they did not hand over their valuables. The trio tied the victims' hands before escaping with cash of $1,778 and two cell phones worth a total of $1,100.
