ITE students become cleaners for a day to commemorate Earth Day

Students from the three Institute of Technical Education (ITE) colleges became school cleaners for the day to commemorate Earth Day which falls on April 22.

Student leaders took charge of the cleanliness of their campus, taking over the duties of cleaners for half a day.

This initiative was launched by the Keep Singapore Beautiful Movement Network which comprises passionate individuals and groups who want to motivate Singaporeans to work together on social-environment activities.

The initiative, "kNOw cleaners day", aims to teach the students empathy and understanding towards the cleaners.

Said Mr Chong Leong Fatt, deputy principal of ITE College Central: "We should appreciate how cleaners put in an effort to keep the campus clean, and also see how we all have a part to play so the cleaners won't have such tough jobs."
