Institute of Engineers launches accreditation scheme for engineers
The Institute of Engineers (Singapore) has launched an accreditation scheme for all engineers.
Called the Chartered Engineer Programme, it was launched at the inaugural World Engineers Summit on Wednesday where Deputy Prime Minister Teo Chee Hean was the guest of honour.
Mr Teo, who is also the coordinating Minister for National Security, said that engineers were an important economic multiplier in developing Singapore by virtue of the innovation needed in their work.
To spur on the building industry, he revealed a new initiative by the Economic Development Board that will place established firms with smaller ones to help with research in green technologies, and apply these solutions in real life.
