An Indonesian maid who killed her employer's physically and mentally handicapped daughter two years ago was jailed for 20 years on Monday.

Nurhayati, who goes by one name, pleaded guilty to a charge of culpable homicide by pushing 12-year-old Linda Lee Yee Lin over the parapet wall on the 16th floor of Block 573, Hougang Street 51, in the early hours of Nov 24, 2010.

The maid was 16 years old when she started working for the family on Oct 27, 2010, but was initially thought to be 24 years old as she had lied about her age to work here.

Within two weeks of starting work, Nurhayati harboured thoughts of poisoning her male employer, Mr Lee Kai Yam, whom she resented for reprimanding her.
