Immediate priorities for Ministry of Social and Family Development
Encouraging young Singaporeans to start families earlier and overcoming the challenges of parenthood - these are some of the pressing issues that are top on the agenda for the new Ministry of Social and Family Development in the year ahead.
These immediate priorities for the new ministry were shared by its newly appointed head, Acting Minister Chan Chun Sing, on the sidelines of a visit to the Asian Women's Welfare Association where he gave an update on the latest manpower development initiatives that the social service sector has adopted.
These plans come after Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong announced on Tuesday that two current ministries - for community development, information and the arts - will be restructured into three, from November.
A new Ministry of Culture, Community and Youth will be created.
