Ikea meatballs found to be safe, sales to resume from Friday

Sales of Ikea Singapore's signature meatballs will resume from Friday, said the home furnishing retailer in a statement on Thursday.

They will be sold at both the Ikea Restaurant and Swedish Food Market, at both its stores in Alexandra and Tampines.

This comes after the release of DNA results by a local independent lab that confirms meatballs sold locally contain only beef and pork, and the Halal-certified ones are made of beef and chicken.

Ikea Singapore had temporarily stopped the sales of their meatballs since Feb 26, days after the Czech State Veterinary Administration said that it detected horse meat in meatballs labelled as beef and pork imported to the country by Ikea.
